Knit Hat.

Hope everyone had an amazing holiday. The other day I received the most thoughtful gift from my best friend Jaime. She knitted me a beautiful cream beanie hat.

This makes me wish I could knit! Check out her artsy blog, My Still Life.

Last Minute Christmas Shopping!

Two more days until you have all your holiday shopping done yet? Well, here are some easy gift ideas that can save you invaluable time. For women, I usually say that gifting jewelry is a no-brainer. I love loud costume pieces, but of course not everyone has the same taste. In that case, there are always classic conservative pieces. For men, easy items to shop for are iPhone or iPad covers, wallets, ties, or cufflings. Gift items that are great for everyone are scarves, gloves, headphones, perfume/cologne and candles.

Look for unique items in side shops or boutiques. Last week, I got a lot of my shopping done at the outdoor shops outside Bryant Park. I love visiting that time of year. Ornaments or trinkets are one of a kind and thoughtful.

If you are shopping in a department store, most come with complimentary gift wrapping. If you are in a serious rush for time, this could be your savior.

My Week with Marilyn: What She Wore.

Clothing strongly defines a character. After watching a brilliant film My Week with Marilyn, I realized how great costume designer Jill Taylor selected clothing for each scene throughout the film. We followed Marilyn's character from her highs to lows, showing her emotions whether that be proudly singing front and center on stage in a sparkling gown to quietly expressing her thoughts to Colin at home wrapped up in a robe.

It was interesting to actually see the clothing used in the film, these pieces are displayed in the Chelsea Cinemas.

Titanic Necklace

I went vintage shopping today and found this dark blue heart necklace at a flea market. And the first thing I thought was - Titanic! It looks exactly like the necklace that Rose threw into the ocean. But I never understood why she did that. That is something she should have said "I'll never let go" to.

Merrily, Macy's.

Can you believe the holidays are coming up already? I feel like it was just a few days ago everyone was deciding on their halloween costumes. But life moves fast, especially here in nyc. During my daily walk down the street, I see stores decking the halls with window displays all lit up. I absolutely love the cheery holiday spirit, but the past few months I've been excessively shopping online. Good or bad thing? A little of both. I'm finding it to be a huge time saver, good deals, and even free shipping on a lot of sites. I might do all my holiday shopping online this year...just as long as I don't get addicted! Then again, nothing is better than actually shopping the stores and seeing the merchandise. Here are some pics of the Macy's 34th Street Herald Square holiday window displays.

Window Shopping!

People don't usually get too excited about window shopping- it's usually about what you buy that's more important, right? Nope, even while walking down the street I can't help but to skim the window displays of everywhere I go. It's interesting to see what are in the windows. Merchandising the best only attracts more people in the store. So what did I find this week? Lots of fresh fall styles, take a look here.

A walk down Soho led me to...

Atelier Minyon
Kate Spade
Kate Spade
Custo Barcelona
Armani Exchange

And back in Midtown, at Macy's Herald Square...

What are some of your fav window displays?

West 25th Street Flea Market

There are some perks to working on Fifth Avenue...on my way there, I am bound to walk by West 25th between Broadway & 6th. And every weekend up to 125 vendors would sell antiques and collectibles from sun up to sun set every weekend. I'm always drawn to take a quick look, as to why the reason I'm always late. I love to look through old antiques. They sell everything from back issues of fashion magazines, fur coats, ethnic jewelry, original art, to furniture. If you're in the area, stop by and take a look!

Weekenders shopping the day away.
Vintage Mags.
Ethnic Jewelry- a la tribal.
Don't you just want to take a seat?
one-of-a-kind rug.
